Another Hollywood star is under fire for his past. Here’s the video of what he did.

In the days since Harvey Weinstein’s sexual transgressions were revealed, other stars have been exposed for inappropriate actions or comments from their past.

Next up, Jason Momoa, known for his roles as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones and Aquaman in the soon-to-be-released DC Comics film, Justice League.

Momoa was speaking on a Comic-Con panel in 2011 with some fellow cast members on Game of Thrones. While discussing why he enjoys working in the science fiction and fantasy genres, he makes a cringe-worthy quip about rape that has not aged well.

The video

The video appears to have first been dug up by Twitter user @peeanofreek, who reposted it with some disparaging remarks about men who identify with their birth sex. You can watch it below:

What Momoa said

“But as far as sci-fi and fantasy, I love that genre because there are so many things you can do, like rip someone’s tongue out of their throat and get away with it and rape beautiful women,” Momoa said.

Most of the other panel members covered their faces or shook their heads while smirking or laughing,

“Next question,” Momoa concluded with a smile.

Reaction and clarification

Momoa is going to be roundly criticized for this six-year-old joke, because the public’s attention is currently aimed at finally being appalled by a corrupt Hollywood culture that pretty much everyone has known about for a long time.

While it is certainly inappropriate and uncomfortable, because rape jokes are always a bad move, Momoa did elaborate some on his stance on the issue in a later interview with the New York Post. In that interview, Momoa was discussing a controversial and graphic sex scene early on in the series.

“Yeah, I’m raping Emillia [Clarke]” he said. “I love her, but I’m hurting her and she’s crying. We could have made it longer, but you get the idea. I’m not a rapist. I prefer my women to enjoy sex.”
