Major TV Networks Band Together Against Trump, Refuse to Cover His Hotel Tour

After the traveling press pool was denied editorial access on a tour of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s new Washington, D.C., hotel, major television networks came to the joint conclusion to pull footage of the tour, Politico reported.

Trump held a news conference Friday at his newest hotel where he briefly addressed his controversial beliefs regarding if President Barack Obama was actually born in the U.S.

However, Trump ignored reporters and uttered only a simple confirmation that he does, in fact, believe that the president is a natural-born citizen after nearly a half hour of endorsements from decorated members of the military.

Following the event, Politico reported that the editorial producer for the network pool was physically detained as the presidential nominee was supposed to take reporters on a tour of the hotel.

“As the designated pool producer; attempted to go on pooled tour, as is customary. Was physically restrained from accompanying the camera,” ABC producer Candace Smith tweeted.

So the campaign allowed a still camera and video camera to go w/ Trump on hotel tour. Print poolers or your tv producer was not allowed.

“The Television pool members chose not to participate in a tour of the Trump Hotel in Washington D.C. today because our editorial team member was barred from going on the tour with a videographer,” Fox News Bureau Chief Bryan Boughton said in a statement to Politico. “The TV Pool traditionally doesn’t participate in events that our reporters or producers are not allowed to attend.”

A member of Trump’s traveling press told Politico, “The pool rules state any event that is pooled with cameras, there has to be a pool producer.”

“Due to the fact that we were not granted editorial access, as is customary, that decision was made and the footage erased,” the unnamed reporter continued.

Trump’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment.
