NBC News on Tuesday fired Senior Vice President Matt Zimmerman following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against him.
“We have recently learned that Matt Zimmerman engaged in inappropriate conduct with more than one woman at NBCU, which violated company policy. As a result he has been dismissed,” NBC News said in a statement.
Zimmerman joins a long list of entertainment industry figures accused of sexual misconduct over the last two months.
Who is Zimmerman?
For years, Zimmerman worked as “Today” co-host Matt Lauer’s personal booker. He is widely known to be one of Lauer’s closest associates and confidants at the network, according to Fox News.
In 2014, Zimmerman was named NBC News senior vice president of a consolidated guest booking unit.
What are the allegations?
“The nature of the accusations against him were not immediately clear, though NBC policy requires executives to notify the human resources department if they are dating a direct report,” according to the NBC News report.
Another source told TV Newser that an executive had consensual relationships with the women, but because he was senior management and didn’t tell HR, he violated company policy.
