As the investigation of illegal targeting of conservative groups continues to unfold despite liberals’ bests attempts to silence it, a recent GOP-led house committee report shows an e-mail from June 2012 by then-Deputy Commissioner of the IRS Steven Miller writes that he was considering whether or not to testify to “put a stake” in the “c4” problems. This appears to be a reference to the agency’s role in tax-exempt status denial to conservative groups.
While Mr. Miller did eventually testify at the July 25 hearing; however, failed to reveal his knowledge of the specific targeting and gross misconduct. The House report states that “Because he did not, he did a great disservice to the American taxpayers”.
The report goes on to say: “Though Miller was never asked as directly as [Commissioner Doug] Shulman about the targeting … Miller likewise never told Congress about the IRS misconduct. Miller’s multiple missed opportunities to tell Congress about the targeting continued the IRS’s pattern of failing to inform Congress.”
This is on the heels of further evidence that found the DOJ had been working closely with IRS official Lois Lerner on potential prosecution for conservative groups.
Now, I’m not sure about any of you, but this Dirty Conservative thinks that there is already enough evidence to skewer these corrupt officials. The mere stalling, refusals to testify (I still am unsure about being able to refuse to testify when you’re a public official operating on the taxpayer dime… this seems suspect to me), the lies about lost communications, lies about timing, the convenient “omissions” of fact, and on and on and on. This is insane people. I still can’t figure out why the liberals can even pretend this didn’t happen. You can bet they’d be crying foul if it happened to them!
