During the signing of the proclamation, Trump’s remarks included a recollection of a popular WWII phrase, “Remember Pearl Harbor.”
“One great battle cry could be heard by American friends and foes alike: Remember Pearl Harbor,” Trump said.
When he asked the WWII veterans, “Have you heard that before a few times?” one of the men broke into a rousing rendition of Sammy Kaye’s “Let’s Remember Pearl Harbor.”
“Remember Pearl Harbor/ Just remember Pearl Harbor as you did the Alamo/ We should always remember how they died for liberty/ Just remember Pearl Harbor and go on to victory,” Ganitch sang.
After Ganitch’s impromptu performance, Trump commented, “What can I say? Wow, that was good.”
